The Diving Bell
The Diving Bell is Andy Davenhall, Dan Leary, Josh Schusterman, and Christian Fulghum.
Together since November of 2010, they are releasing a triptych of three singles, to be followed by a full length late in 2012.
"Shooting Star, Falling" / "Louisiana Highway" (FIN-LE7-001) is already receiving critical acclaim: see this review from the 7 Inches Blog in Brooklyn and another review from The Stryofoam Drone Blog in Philadelphia.
The sound represents a variety of influences as diverse as the member's hometowns: Poughkeepsie, NY, Berkeley, CA, Dallas, TX, and Seattle, WA. Running the gamut from blythe psychedelia to dark majesty, classical to avant garde, from British punk to American funk, from Montgomery Ward to Monty Python, their musical influences are cooked down into muscular subversive pop. Andy's vocals are distinctive and wide ranging, and the music is economical and powerful.
The Diving Bell is currently on hiatus as its members live in separate parts of the country for the time being. TDB has some great music just waiting to be heard, so keep an eye out for the third installment of the Triptych and a brand new full length!
