From their humble beginnings as a cross-country-pen-pal-bedroom-recording-project to the five piece pop rock powerhouse known to dazzle any audience, Land of Pines have always had “it”. That ephemeral thing that can’t be quantified or defined. You know when a band has “it” and you can’t help but fall in love with it. Sure Land of Pines tunes are catchy and dynamic – skillfully written, intricate without being overly complicated, full of hooks that swing the listener round and round and heavy riffs that could knock over a building – but underneath all that “it” is right there. On “Dead Feathers” [FIN-LE7-010] the band gives us a taste of it and even after repeated spins the ear just hungers for more. Recorded with Martin Feveyear (Presidents Of The USA, QOTSA, Screaming Trees) the 7” marks the quintet’s vinyl debut, and needless to say, it’s a corker.
